Fletcher Moss Park and Parsonage Gardens

For the nature enthusiasts and plant lovers, Fletcher Moss Park and Parsonage Gardens, located in the heart of Disbury in Manchester, wanted to catalogue their most spectacular plant varieties to make it more accessible for visitors to experience the scents, textures and colours, all year round.

We were commissioned by Manchester City Council and the Friends’ Committee Group to design, specify and print manage, a seasonal plant and tree guide.

The guide was as educational as it was functional, telling the story of when Robert Wood Williamson first developed the park in late 19th century. It also included a short introduction to the 5 main areas of interest.

Inside provides a map of Fletcher Moss Park and Parsonage Gardens, which visitors now use as a main navigational aid, featuring 5 colour coded areas of interest, onsite facilities, walking routes, local transport connections and local pubs.

Utilising the 4 edges of the map, we listed the plants and trees by season and locality.

We printed the guide on G.F Smith’s chlorine free ‘Zen’ paper for HP Indigo. Zen has a light surface coating giving greater clarity to the printed image without sacrificing the actual feel of the paper itself.

In addition to the guide, we also illustrated a series of flowers and leaves including Camellia, Magnolia, Narcissi and Acer, which can be utilised on a variety of printed and digital promotional materials.
